Chameleon Puzzle: Red Box Color Order
Quick answer
Set the red box colors from left to right to red, purple, yellow and blue. The clue comes from placing the chameleon beside the marked bottles and matching those colors to the rune order in the book. The box contains a key, a wire-connection note and the radio knob.

Find the caterpillar by the rubbish bags
Inspect the bags in the office and pick up the small caterpillar. Return to the computer room and inspect the plant in its left corner. Place the caterpillar on the lower branch.
You’ll know it worked: A chameleon comes out to eat the caterpillar; collect it.

Read the bottle symbols in book order
Open the book beside the orange cat. Its marked runes identify the bottles to test and the order to use. Keep that order separate from the physical left-to-right arrangement of bottles on the shelves.
You’ll know it worked: You have a sequence of four symbols to match.

Match each rune to a color
Select the chameleon and use it in front of the bottles carrying the book’s symbols. Record its color each time. Read the completed color sequence in the book’s order: red, purple, yellow, blue.
You’ll know it worked: Each of the four book symbols has a corresponding color.

Open the red box and collect all three items
In the brown-cat room, select the red box and set its four fields to the colors shown above. Take the key, the wiring note and the loose radio knob. Keep the note: it is needed at the cut-wire panel later.
You’ll know it worked: The red box opens, giving access to the next Laboratory tasks.

Where do I use the key?
Use it on the top drawer in the computer area to obtain the pliers and sticky fly strips. That is the next step toward the fly-count chest.
Why is a color sequence from the bottle shelf not working?
The book supplies the order. Match the rune on each bottle to the book before entering its color; testing bottles in shelf order does not establish the code.
What is the radio knob for?
Fit it to the radio in the white-cat room. The later duck puzzle supplies the signals to match; simply fitting the knob does not provide the briefcase answer.
